Storytelling sits at the heart of One & One Theatre. My writing work focuses on adapting classic texts for the stage—respecting their original power while reshaping them for contemporary audiences, community casts, and intimate theatrical spaces. Each adaptation is built to be actor-driven, theatrically bold, and emotionally direct.
Selected Adaptations
A Christmas Carol (2010)
A faithful yet theatrical adaptation of Dickens’ classic ghost story, created to foreground character, atmosphere, and moral urgency. Designed for ensemble storytelling and flexible staging, this version emphasised Scrooge’s psychological journey as much as the spectacle of redemption.
Frankenstein (2012)
A dark, concentrated stage adaptation exploring creation, responsibility, and isolation. This version stripped the story back to its moral core, using heightened language and stylised staging to examine the bond—and rupture—between Victor and his Creature.
The Covid Inspector
reimagining The Government Inspector (2021)
Gogol’s satire relocated to a small town in crisis during the pandemic. Written to be performed online and retaining the farce, pace, and social bite of the original, this adaptation reframed corruption, fear, and self-interest through a sharply contemporary lens.
Dracula (2024)
A psychologically driven adaptation focusing on obsession, power, and moral decay. This version prioritised tension, intimacy, and storytelling economy over spectacle, making it particularly suited to studio and community theatre settings.
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (2024)
A tense, actor-centred reworking of Stevenson’s novella, designed to play with doubling, fractured narration, and moral ambiguity. The adaptation leans into the horror of repression and the cost of respectability.
Original Work
Night Shift (in development)
My first fully original stage play, Night Shift is currently in development and planned for premiere in 2027. Set over a single night, the play explores responsibility, moral fatigue, and the quiet moments that define who we are when no one is watching. Further details will be released as the project moves towards production.
